DECENTRALIZED WASTEWATER IMPROVEMENTS
NATIONAL ON-SITE EPA DEMONSTRATION PROJECT
- Unique combination of multiple treatment solutions.
- 2 manage existing on-site properties.
- 5 new conventional individual on-site septic tank/disposal field system properties.
- 3 Septic Tank Effluent Gravity (STEG) system properties.
- 31 STEP/low pressure sewer system properties.
- 28 gravity sewer system properties.
- Unique combination of wastewater collection systems.
- 2,020 feet of new gravity sewers. Some house services were replumbs.
- 8,000 feet of alternative low pressure systems with alternative 1 1/4 inch diameter
low pressure house services.
- Of the 8,000 feet of mainline low pressure sewers, 46% were installed by directional
drilling! Directional drilling avoided extensive excavation of roads and lawns.
MULTIPLE TELEMETRY SYSTEMS
- Radio telemetry for 4 pump stations.
- Web based telemetry for 31 individual STEP systems and 4 individual on-site systems.
TELEMETRY SYSTEM ADVANTAGES
- Remote monitoring reduces operations costs by reducing operator on-site.
- Radio telemetry eliminates monthly telephone fees, saves $2,000 per year vs. dial-up
telemetry.
- Operator downloads data for reports at their office, another cost savings.
- Remote telemetry is web based so operator can access the system at any computer.
- Web based telemetry uses homeowners telephone, another cost savings vs. seperate
dial-up.
- The operator trouble shoots alarm conditions at their office, thus avoiding always
having to go on-site.
