PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • First Single Stream Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in New England.
  • One of the first dust capture systems in a material recovery facility in the country.
  • Unique fast-track design build sequence:
  • Developed RFP and helped with selection of single stream process design/build vendor.
  • Developed site plans, building floor plans and building elevations based on process plans by single stream design/build vendor.
  • Provided permitting assistance for all state and local permitting including ACT 250.
  • Prepared RFP and helped with selection of design/build contractor for building additions.
  • Prepared RFP and helped with selection of design/build contractor for heating and ventilation of sorting rooms and for dust capture system.
  • Provided part-time construction observation, design and shop drawing review for all design/build phases.
  • Overall recycling capacity increased by 100% while footprint only increased 30%.
  • Single Stream advantages over typical dual system stream (separate fiber and container lines) system:
  • Typically increases recycling by 10% to 30% due to ease of sorting at source.
  • Can save 10% to 30% of collection costs due to simplified combined recycling containers and trucks.
  • Sorting areas have insulated enclosures with heating and 100% outside air ventilation for employee comfort and improved productivity.
  • Dust capture system features:
  • High efficiency cartridge system with automatic pneumatic purge system.
  • 75 HP exhaust fan with high efficiency motor and soft-start controls.
  • Custom linear intake hoods located at critical points along process screening equipment.
  • 28,000 CFM capacity provides improved air quality and increased productivity.
